I can imagine a situation where utilt nair fsmash is the best possible combo. If you're at a percent where the nair hits them too far to utilt again, and you aren't near a ledge to spike. Although maybe you would want to do ftilt fair tech chase or something.

I guess so. Pretty situational though, I just tried it on Falcon and he had to be at a mad specific percent where FSmash would connect and UTilt wouldn't.

Also, just realized nobody responded to this:

Has anybody tried to learn how to parry -> double jump insta-land thing -> any ground move? I feel stupid for not thinking of this idea earlier.

I think it could potentially be EXTREMELY good. The main ground moves used will probably be ftilt or utilt
Why you people dun respond? THIS IS THE FUTURE OF YOSHI, DAMMIT. It's not even that much harder than parry -> djc. I've probably only put in like 30 minutes of practice and I'm already pretty good at it.

Why do you need to djc?

Cant you just go from the Parry to Groundmove?

How much, if any faster, would double jump insta landing be than just a normal grounded head bobbing parry?

I dunno frame stuff.

But this is kind of like wavedashing out of parrys in melee. Prolly a good bit easier though.

The unshield animation takes too long.

I dunno exact frames but it's definitely a LOT faster.

I would love to see this applied in some (match) videos.

but wouldnt utilt -fsmash send them lower, meaning more likely to get an edgehog in situations like the edge of dreamland?

USmash sends them farther so edgehogging wouldn't be much easier for FSmash, and USmash has a higher chance of not giving them a chance of recovering them at all if they go far enough that they hit the death zone.

Pretty sure the Melee Yoshi community (lol) uses the term "DJL". I actually got the idea from a post from some Yoshi Melee player mentioning parry DJL D-Smash as a KO move, and I was like, "Hey, parrying is even better in 64, DJL is just as fast, and Yoshi has better ground moves than in Melee, so why isn't this used? How did I not think of this earlier?"

Yeah a lot of Yoshi's moves were ruined in Melee, and he can't jump out of shield except at the very start. Don't know why Sakurai felt the the need to nerf Yoshi and not characters like Fox LOL

i haven't clicked on koro's link but ten bucks it's vectorman or his combo video

he gets wins, sure, but there are lots of vids of him losing :\

which sucks, i love seeing low/mid-tier characters do well - aren't vman, axe and taj from the same state?

N64 is hella fun to watch/play. I've beaten his pika exactly one time. Even lost in a 4 stock v 1 stock crew battle finale.

He's really good if you consider the fact that he's only been using Yoshi for several months, and he's already got **** like parrying done.

Yeah AZ has a ton of good low tier players for some strange reason.

Uh, immediately after the invincibility ends you're going to be in the tornado and get sucked up by it anyways >_> Unless it disappears during the invinicibity lol

Sounds like something that would be cool to test out for an insanely board TASer.

Parrying arwing shots would be much cooler though, and are probably possible. Someone should test that.

There are actually two really good Yoshis in AZ, the other being Angel who apparently can beat Vman in yoshi dittos. And he ***** taj's mewtwo.

Yeah but if it was moving FAST would it still hit you for more than 2 frames or w/e?

I grab-parry tornados all the time.

I don't think the tornado is fast enough to go through the parry's invisibility, it'd probably drag you anyway.

What a troll...

I've seen ppl crouching before a parry, is it because it's faster that way?

No, its because if you miss the parry and get hit, you receive much less knockback because of the crouch cancel.

i thought it was because the shield encompasses yoshi completely that way, and that you can still dash attack out of it.

It's also slightly easier to do since Yoshi's hitbox is smaller.

edit: dandan doesn't Yoshi's shield always cover him? I thought it just makes the timing a little easier.
