dunno, it was me trying to remember something sheer once told me :p
I told you, noob <3. Anyways, I've had to correct the crouch-cancel misconception a million times, and people I've explained to why still don't seem to get it. I understand it's hard to visualize, so maybe I'll draw a picture explaining it or something.

No, its because if you miss the parry and get hit, you receive much less knockback because of the crouch cancel.
^This misconception. Yes, it's true that it you will crouch cancel if you get hit, but the main reason for crouching is that it makes the window for parrying larger.

Technically, it doesn't make the frame window larger. I know I'm probably gonna confuse you with this post, because it sounds like I'm contradicting myself. That's why I'll draw a picture eventually.

Uhhh crouching makes parrying easier for me. That's why I do it. And sossy and prince both did it and they are who I learned it from so I got into the habit. Crouch canceling a missed parry is just an added benefit.

Honestly though you should learn without having to crouch too. As crouching can make it obvious you're going for a parry and they'll change their approach accordingly.

Here is my thesis on how to use yoshi's egg **** technique effectively. Now I ain't no kind of math guy but I try to use some mathy like terms to explain it.
Imagine the angles at which you can throw eggs as equidistant rays on a plane emanating from yoshi. The continuation of this cycle of rays spans the hitbox of the egg **** maneuver.
When this is useful: uh. sometimes? I discovered it spamming up-b against a jiggs that was approaching and smash-diing against a wall of eggs and it just dawned on me that he/she/it moved into neutral-b range just naturally following the angle of the eggs.

anyway, who the **** cares? nobody. but my yoshi is non-technical and rulez.

New super coolm Yoshi edgeguard tactic on Ness: Using your double jump super armor to fly into the PK thunder bolt and then going back to the stage.

No one would play Jigglypuff if it wern't for Dean. Dean practically invented Jiggs and at the very least made the duck>rest famous. Sorry ciaza.

but dean is a jerk

and nobody invented things, people just brought them to the scene, like me abusing hookshot in the tent/kuro using f-tilt in the tent/judy jabbing every few seconds to make me feel like a tool

Lies I was crouch cancel/duck resting people years ago.

You aussies are way behind. And you've got the Yoshi discussion thread way off topic.

We're not talking about crouch cancel. Straight up crouch>rest. Mind games so many freakin' people as everyone's automatic approach is to short hop>aerial, and then since the crouch hurtbox is so small you avoid the opponent's aerial and hit the rest.

I know I was saying I do both.

Anyone who plays competitive melee knows this stuff. I started doing it in 64 years ago after seeing jiggs duck rest Marth grabs and crouch cancel dash attacks and whatnot.

Well that makes sense since the guy (Dean) is originally a melee player.

0:33 of this video.

Isai uses Yoshi's second jump but eventually fox's drill stops it.

My question is, what are the specifics on Yoshi's super armour? What stops it? Are multi-hit attacks more effective? I know the higher percentage Yoshi is on, the easier it is, but do we know specifically?

Even if he did, question still stands. I want to know more about the properties.

I've noticed in a lot of the peru matches, Isai will utilt on shield over and over again and his opponent won't be able to escape. I always have been able to escape this, particularly with falcon using grab or roll. Is utilt on shield actually inescapable?
