I just wonder how her moveset would work if they change it and not keep the current Smash Bros version. She's more of a summoner than a fighter in that game. If you don't count the Might Sword.
Well im guessing her final smash would be a rainbow based on this post :bowsette:

You know what? Here's my attempt, with the same amount of effort put in as these, and no amount of quotation marks will EVER express how sarcastically I am using this term here, """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""leakers"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""".

I mean, I can understand people using Monster Hunter because of the different weapons, being able to be male and female and, arguably, the Up-B Whipsword grapple that one could say was meant to be for a Wirebug recovery that animation-wise, can look similar to Byleth's whipsword grapple(as Wirebugs involve using bright light wires to grab the bugs and it's done very whip-like).
Tracer however, why? The only thing Byleth and Tracer have in common is the time travel back a few seconds gimmick.
When you dig around the MH weapons for a few minutes you'll quickly realize the similarities are just surface level and Byleth's weapons do not translate to Monster Hunter very well.
  1. The only normal-sized swords in MH in the Sword and Shield, the Dual Blades, and the Charge Blade (Which is also a sword/shield combo). Byleth has one sword and no shield
  2. They do have a Bow, but it's significantly larger, to the point you can use the arrows as spears. Also, to my knowledge there's no arrow-beam charged shot
  3. The Lance and Gunlance are big stabby lances and not the glaive-like design Areadbhar has, so that wouldn't work at all. They do have the Insect Glaive, but that's A: A low-damage but speedy weapon, B: Built around flashy aerial manuevers, and C: Has the titular Insect. Areadbhar is a slow but strong weapon without aerial mobility or an Insect.
  4. There's two axes in MH; The Switch Axe, which turns into a sword and lacks any big unga-bunga swings, and the Charge Blade, which does have a big unga-bunga swing, but it also transforms from the SnS-like weapon and requires you to land attacks to build up charge before turning into an axe. There's also the Great Sword, but that has a very distinct three-step charge and attack animation that Amyr lacks. It's also a fair bit longer than Amyr

So based on that, the Monster Hunter that would turn into Byleth would have some combination of:
  • A Sword and Shield with no shield
  • An awkwardly nerfed Bow
  • An Insect Glaive with no Insect
  • A Great Sword that isn't that great
  • And a Charge Blade that lacks a charge mechanic

The Gematsu leak was absolutely real. It was simply outdated.

You're not going to convince me that a leak that predicted...

  • Most of the playable roster, no strings attached. :ultvillager::ultmegaman::ultlittlemac::ultmiifighters::ultpalutena::ultpacman::ultshulk:
  • Wii Fit Trainer of all things :ultwiifittrainer: I repeat, it predicted Wii Fit Trainer!
  • Chrom when we have confirmation that originally he was considered :ultchrom:
  • a "Pokemon from X and Y" when it was confirmed that a slot for a new Pokemon was left open and that slot eventually became Greninja :ultgreninja:
  • Either Ness or Lucas being base game:ultness:
  • Chorus Kids when we have confirmation that Rhythm Heaven was at some point set to get a fighter
... Somehow has no legit information. We know Robin was on the project plan, so my guess is that the leak happened with an earlier draft of the project plan. Games don't change from the project plans much, but the project plans do change a lot before they are finalized.

Wii Fit Trainer and the Rhythm Heaven icon found in Smash 4's data really are the smoking guns here. Gematsu was completely legit at one point.
Another thing worth pointing out is that they specifically referred to the character as “Mii Fighter”.
The thing with the Gematsu leaks actually reminds me of this old MVC3 website leaked that happened around the time the game was first announced in 2010.

This absolutely was an earlier form of Marvel 3's roster. 83% of the characters listed here ended up in the base roster, and quite a few of them are characters hardly anyone thought of until their reveal like X-23 or Taskmaster. Literally every single Capcom character listed here made it in...all except for Frank West, who we know got cut for time. In his place in the final game was C. Viper.

I wouldn't say Viper was sloppily put in at the last minute, but I wonder if she was included to fill in for Frank due to being easier to develop, considering they could just take her moveset from SFIV.
We know the dev team were deciding whether to add Emma Frost or Phoenix as well as deciding between Juggernaut and Sentinel, Phoenix and Sentinel won out, 2 characters not on this list.

The team also wanted Mr. Fantastic, but Marvel ultimately rejected the idea. As for Elektra, I think Capcom at one point stated that each stage is tied to a playable character, this is true except for one stage, Hand’s Hideout, a stage that is very much associated with Elektra.

Naw, just using colors to point out the fighting style for Zelda from Echoes of Wisdom. Maybe still using her triforce for sealing is fine as the Final Smash.

I really really hope the next Smash Bros uses Fury Bowser in a significant way. The design is just goes so hard and is by far my favourite transformation for Bowser and is the perfect final smash for the guy. I know Giga Bowser is kinda tradition but he can still be a boss. Let Fury Bowser have his time to shine

Also y'all should watch the Death Battle between Eggman and Bowser, the animation is absolutely phenomenal with truly spectacular shots

Gaiz, this is like that other "leak"

View attachment 398385

Think it's LEGIT?!?!?!? and will be coveted by news sites? 🤯

The archive site is down, so unfortunately gotta keep track of fakes with screencaps
This is obviously fake but outside Geno, Waluigi and Sol, this newcomer lineup is completely abysmal. 4chan needs to be more creative.

I would weep if that was the next game. Decreased stages, lame picks, one DLC characters. All for $70?

It's an intentionally crude edit, he didn't use the right font for starters.
I’m ten steps behind my leak detector game if I can’t recognize fonts smh

I remember like before Ultimate was revealed at E3, there was a post on 4chan that said that everyone is back, Daisy, and Ridley are playable. So sometimes the leaks in there could be true, or at least accurate.
Wasn’t this the day before E3 tho, three months after the teaser trailer? We’re not even close to the teaser trailer stage yet. :191:

Actually, Fury Bowser should be both a boss and a Final Smash in the next game.

I would like this form to replace Giga Bowser as the transformation for his Final Smash, assuming it doesn’t change. Giga Bowser is a cool design. I think Fury Bowser is cooler.

I wouldnt complain if Fury Bowser became the final smash while Giga Bowser stays as a boss fight.

I’m probably wrong but I’ve always been under the assumption that the Gematsu leak was likely fake that just happened to get some lucky guesses that ended up being right so everyone automatically accepted it as real. I never researched it too deeply but that’s my initial assumption of all leaks until I see enough proof otherwise. That leak had enough going against it for me that I never really bought into it.
Im pretty sure it was real but based on an earlier version of the roster. It makes more sense than it being a complete coincidence.

Instead of making him a Final Smash or a boss, it'd be cool if he was a background stage hazard on a new Bowser's Fury stage. He starts off dormant in his Fury Sun form until the 2 minute mark, at which point he emerges from his cocoon and launches fireballs and spiky platforms at the playing field. After 2 more minutes of him wreaking havoc, he goes back to rest and the cycle continues from there.

I would personally replace Giga Bowser with this guy. I feel like now that there's basically a series-faithful Giga Bowser equivalent, that would supersede the original Smash creation. I mean, other FSs have changed to draw from actual series content, like Luigi, Link, Pit and Lucario...

But Giga Bowser has been part of Smash a long time; I think it depends how attached Sakurai has become to the guy. Though like you said, he could simply re-appear as a boss.

But if that doesn't change, it's true Fury Bowser could be Kraiding out in the background of a stage. Or maybe more akin to Viridi, who (indirectly) affects the stage. As long as he's not like those annoying-ass Smash 4 stage bosses.

I brought this up in the past but IF Akira from Virtua Fighter got in Smash how would you feel about Ryo Hazuki as a semi clone of Akira?
I say Semi because throughout his training arcs in Shenmue II and later Ryo is clearly being trained by martial arts masters in China in Bajiquan to pretty much become like Akira as Shenmue was intended to be a Virtua Fighter RPG early in development,
However Ryo was trained in Hazuki Fighting style from the beginning by his father which is a combination of Karate and Jiu-Jutsu. Reasonably he could be a clone of Akira and Ryu combined especially since Ryo was intended to learn Shoryuken in Shenmue 1 but was removed probably because of Capcom. His grappling attacks could be slightly altered to rep the Jiu-Jutsu in his attacks as well.

Outside of that you could rep a bunch Sega AM2 games like music or gachapons with the package like Outrigger, Outrun, After Burner, Space Harrier, Fighting Vipers, Daytona, Virtua Cop, etc.

Yes this death battle was peak. And it also made me more interested to see Eggman in smash as well. But anyway as for Fury Bowser, yeah hopefully he is at least a final smash or boss if Giga bowser still stays in the game in some other way.

Should Fury Bowser do a fire breath for the Final Smash? Or do spikes and thunder before a punch?

SUTTE HAKKUN MADE IT TO NSO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAKKUN IS COMING TO SMASH BROS YALL AIN'T READY!!!!
Man, if only... 🙏

Pretty unsurprising for me at this point, but I'd unironically be pretty excited over Hakkun somehow making it into Smash Bros. (as a playable character)...

With Tekken and Pac-Man already repped with fighters, what third Namco IP do you think would be next in line? Tales of, perhaps?
Honestly, I'd say Tales or Soul Caliber, but I'm going to go against the grain on this one and say that I'd like to see more of Namco's retro lineup get some love on this front. Valkyrie, Gil, Bravoman, Wonder Momo, Taizo Hori, Tobi Masuyo, Hiromi Tengenji, Rick Taylor, Tarosuke, Taira no Kagekiyo, Namuko (Namcot Girl), Pino and Acha, etc.

Aside from them, I'd be more than fine with Namco's more "odd" choices, such as Don-chan, the Prince, and Reiko Nagase (or Ai Fukami or Hitomi Yoshino, whichever they choose).

Ryo Hazuki is another one of those characters that I would love to see in a crossover but a Smash game is just not it.

Gosh, I wish SEGA had a crossover fighting game series of their own!

OK her sounding like she couldn't be any more bored and the player getting fed up and skipping the tutorial is so freaking funny.

So, I just found this.
Is this what I think it is?
I'd imagine people/companies in the process of having their IPs added to Smash would be under extreme NDA to the point where they can't say anything that'd even remotely indicate or tease a Smash character happening. This is probably for something completely unrelated.

In the past, surprise characters included retro characters from the early NES (and one before). Even Piranha Plant, as evergreen as it is, is an early NES character. Should the surprise characters expand to other consoles?

Speaking of late-90s-early-2000s SEGA, this theme recently popped in my head:

I kinda hope they add this in the next Smash game. I'm surprised this wasn't already in the series.

well their gonna have to replace Live and Learn with something else now.

Typical late-90s-early-2000s Sega voice acting
F-Zero and Sega Race TV had these awkward racer interviews too.
Im pretty sure its on purpose

I still want to know what happened with Steve. Vergeben had a flawless track record with his only blemish being that Steve didn’t make it into base game but it seems all but confirmed that he was planned for Smash all the way back then. Were they just too far in that the stages needed reworked regardless and had to take that much time? Or was there other issues going on behind the scenes? Real head scratcher that one.

Hayabusa getting in would be amazing! O.O Good to see you're still here man! :)
I just had the wildest flashback to our time in the old K. Rook thread. Glad to see your still around too!!

I don't remember if there was other stuff that destroyed Vergeben (I feel like there was, but others would have to verify that lol), but since Steve talks took like 5 years or however long, source may have just known about Minecraft for Smash talks were happening, but not how long the talks would take or that Steve would end up being in the second set of DLC and just assumed it was for base game.
