I feel like they'd still make a Dojo since they have for the last three games to have a dedicated spot for this kind of stuff, but any announcements on the Dojo would also get posted to Nintendo Today, since it is Nintendo news related.
If they do Pic of the Day again, that could also go up on there, since Nintendo Today also has things like Character profiles and little New Horizons comics featuring the Nooks.
Oh, I'm sure they would. I just wondered how they'd handle Smash updates on Nintendo Today, because I imagine they wouldn't want such news to potentially get lost in the shuffle of the app, if that makes sense.
Speaking of Pilotwings, I'm hoping they not only bring back the PW64 characters if they do a revival, but also do renditions of music from both the original SNES game and 64.
In fact, I'm also kind of hoping that the musical style will be similar to 70s/80s funk music, like 64.
You and me both... you know, I wonder if Nintendo would be willing to call Dan Hess back for such an event or if they'd just get Soyo Oka (the composer for the OG game on Super Nintendo).
Aside from that though? I think a Pilotwings game with the cast of PW64 could lend itself to a minor story that sort of calls back to the OG game where the player had to infiltrate the E.V.I.L. syndicate's lair. I mean, Mecha-Hawk had to come from SOMEWHERE, right?
Oh, man... speaking of whom, you all know how Smash Bros. usually has a "WTF character"? Well, Mecha-Hawk would make for an interesting WTF
boss character in Smash 6!
If unlockable characters somehow return at brawl/melee's amount....what characters do you feel are likely to be unlockable?
If these veterans return, i think they could be unlockable, maybe:

,

,

,

,

.
Speaking of unlockables... a while back I remember us having a convo about how EiH limited the creative ways that characters could be unlocked in Smash Ultimate, and I mentioned how it would have been nice if Ultimate's base-game roster of newcomers (Inkling, Princess Daisy, Ridley, etc.) could have been given the 'unique unlock methods'.
Well, what do you all think such unlock methods could have been for Smash Ultimate's base-game newcomers, if Ultimate did what I suggested?
For example...

- Use every shooting-type item in the game and successfully land a hit an opponent at least once.

- Finish Classic on 5.5 difficulty or higher with

.

- Finish Classic on 8.0 difficulty or higher with Samus.
And so on and so forth.
Tbh, i wouldn't count Rathalos out as the MH rep. We never had a "giant" character before in Smash (think of iron giant in MVs), i could see Sakurai giving the concept of a giant fighter a try and Rathalos seems like a good candidate for it.
Still holding out for Doshin/Jashin...
Huh. I guess it would make sense that it only effects E(10+) rated games, and brought them up to T rather than M. It at least feels more reasonable. The main question then would be is Smash E10+ by mandate or just because that's where it shook out?
There was the aforementioned fact that E10+ didn't exist yet, but for Brawl, my guess would be Zero Suit Samus. Particularly the cutscene where the camera does close ups on her while she drops from a vent.
The rating is really vague and not helpful but it only specifically points to "Cartoon Violence" and "Crude Humor" for some reason lol
Did see people in a Reddit thread guessing ZSS cutscene, Master Hand's red wounds after freeing himself of Tabuu's chains, Snake's weapons (though that seemingly didn't affect Ultimate so I doubt it's that)...
Odd. I could have sworn it also had "Suggestive Themes", but I guess it doesn't. Maybe I'm thinking of SSB4. Ultimate probably has it too because Bayo.
Also, "Crude Humor" is most definitely caused by Wario.
Yeah, Smash 4 is E10+ for Cartoon Violence, Comic Mischief, and Mild Suggestive Themes, and Ultimate drops the Mild for just straight up Suggestive Themes.
And I would think so too with Wario, but that bit of the rating never comes up again, despite Wario being a mainstay, so I have no clue lmao
EDIT: I read the full rating explanation, and it actually does specifically single out Wario at the end of Ultimate's saying "One character emits flatulence gas clouds to attack opponents", so it actually probably is him after reading him get singled out lmao
Maybe they just changed him from Crude Humor to Comic Mischief?
If I remember correctly, Z.S.S. had some... gratitoius close-ups in Subspace and in terms of Crude Humor... correct me if I'm wrong, but aside from Wario farting in general... didn't the Wario Waft have a more "realistic" vibe to it? Like, I remember the Waft looking more cartoonish by Smash 4.
Now thinking about it, do you think spirits will stick around or will be changed into another collectable version other than trophies?
I don't expect Spirits to return. They're tied to Ultimate's WOL story mode, and I doubt we'll get WOL2.
You know, Spirits returning has been on my mind for a while now, and... yeah, I don't think I see them coming back. Something about them feels too "tied" to WoL and the whole 'Galeem killed everyone' thing.
Yeah giving the Miis some Pilotwings-related moves is more like the "at least it's better than nothing" option, certainly not a way to replace what a full Pilotwings character would bring. I think the OCs from Pilotwings are really cool, even the named instructors from the SNES Pilotwings as well (although the 64 ones have more characterization). I also think their cases would be stronger if at least some of the crew was kept consistent across the games. But it'd just be nice if we could be more confident that Nintendo would consider actually re-using some of these OCs in a future game. Seems like a lot of things are moving into the faceless avatar / self-insert route these days, which your opinion may vary on but is a whole other can of worms to discuss.
I think Nintendo likes Chibi-Robo, and I doubt Sakurai would struggle to give him a creative moveset. He just hasn't been commercially successful enough to seem likely. In a way, that's what a lot of these series have tended to struggle with, having some of the qualities that a likely character might have but other areas where they falter.
And yeah Wars has a lot of history and a strong number of releases, and has typically done very well critically. The moveset potential is something I think is very attractive (I got to get around to fleshing out more of the details on my Andy moveset). Being less popular in the East would potentially not be such a huge roadblock if its success or notoriety in the West were big enough. But again it comes down to likely not being commercially successful enough even in the West to really stick out. It's just a shame the Reboot Camp didn't go exactly as planned, with all of the delays and, in my opinion, some flaws that make it a downgrade from the originals in some respects. Feels like a big missed opportunity to fully take advantage of the massive Switch install base, and not entirely anybody's fault, either. While I also think it's good Nintendo found a developer in WayForward that might be willing to make an AW game again if IS is tied down with FE et al., at the same time I think some fans are skeptical of WayForward perhaps being too far out of their comfort zone in the TBS genre. But, the big positive is they did actually try again on Advance Wars after a long period of nothing, and there is a potential developer. I just hope that, taking into account all the issues with the delays, the remake did just well enough to inspire another go at an actual new game. Since Reboot Camp is recent enough, AW feels more likely to fully come back than a lot of other series, and if it does with a successful new game then it could quickly become much more likely for more Smash content.
Oogh... I know there are folks who would like for the Miis to borrow from games that they star in (i.e. Wii Sports, etc.), but PLEASE do NOT let Nintendo go the cheap route on a Pilotwings character.
You know, I actually held a poll on the Pilotwings for Smash thread asking what PW character would people like to see in Smash and the 'Mii with Pilowings gear' option was (thankfully), hands-down, the lowest-rated option. Even the player character from the OG SNES game got more votes than that option.
In regards to Chibi-Robo, I'm actually someone who genuinely supports the little guy and still stands by the idea that he should have been Smash 4's first-party DLC newcomer instead of Corrin, honestly.
Not saying that Sakurai will do this (I don't think he even knows of the game's existence), but SSF2 at least has its own proof-of-concept that Chibi-Robo could definitely fit in Smash Bros. with little issue. In fact, the only move I don't see carrying over to official Smash is Pick-Up (his version of the A.C. characters' Pocket special).
I'm not decrying it or anything. If Sakurai is willing to use that move, I'd welcome it. Heck, it'll most likely not be as glitchy in Smash Bros. compared to Smash Flash.
As for Wars... hoo, boy. I won't lie, I have some hope that Sakurai is (at the very least) AWARE of Re-Boot Camp's existence and given his gamer background, perhaps he's even played it himself. I'll say this much, if we don't get Andy and/or Sami as a playable character, the Orange Star Army returning as ATs would at least show me that Sakurai hasn't totally discared those guys from Smash's legacy.
I know Andy, Eagle, and Olaf got Spirits in Smash Ultimate without the Orange Star Army AT, but Re-Boot Camp being a thing NOW would tell me a bit more about how Sakurai (and Nintendo) look at Wars at the moment.
Is it a bad take that I think this is where third party representation in Smash peaked?

Ngl, while I do have a fairly sizable list of 3rd parties I'd like to see in Smash... had THIS been the only 3rd party representation for Smash 4, I would have called this the perfect cap-off to the concept of 3rd parties in the series, honestly.
