Honestly, I feel like the whole "Hisuian Mons are extinct" is just debunk at this point due to Scar/Vio.

They're limited in numbers, but it seems like they still exist in smaller areas and "in colder climates".

Game still ran like **** for Indigo Disk for me, hell, it almost crashed on several occasions.


Which is a step up from base game content which DID crash on several occasions, admittedly.

As a long time Minecraft fan, they downloaded an awful texture pack. That movie is just ugly, they didn't want to commit to making it 1:1 with the games, but then didn't want to pull a full on realism, so they did both and it just does not work.


Also the movie looks generic, uninspired, and really not funny.

The people making this clearly have done their research about Minecraft as a game and even some of the jokes, this ain't a Super Mario 1980s where the Director had zero interest in the source material.

I don't wanna sound like an annoying snob, but some things really shouldn't be live action
Minecraft is one of them.

But beyond that, I think the term I can say is it feels... corporate. Yes, I really do enjoy the Minecraft references and related jokes, but everything else feels hollow like a Ghast. All hot air but flimsy when hit.

Like lazily slapping Jack Black in there feels like them trying to cash in on the Bowser hype, Mamoa plays a arrogant buffon cause we haven't seen that before, isekai becauae going fully animated would scare off parents, jokes are not creative which is ironic for a Minecraft movie, etc.
