Something I noticed with Mario kart. The costumes aren’t really costumes.

There’s an item that transforms the racers into different costumes mid match.

I wonder if this ties into the glowing bag we see. It has the same green glow the characters did before they transformed.

So we might not be able to select the costumes at the start and instead they change depending on where you are racing.

I think he’s really fun to watch now. Maybe they could’ve done the same with the old design, but they didn’t, they redesigned him. And now that I see what it was building up to, I like it.

This doesn't look like a mistake to me. I enjoy the design.

Idk feels like you just hate the new design because it's not the old one

But what if neither the company nor consumers consider it a mistake? Most people seem to be receiving the new style pretty well. And if monkey games are really gonna be developed internally now, I think this is how DK is gonna look now, at least for a while. You don’t have to like it or ever get used to it, but such is life.

Tbh the only things that make me concerned are the seeming lack of the other kongs and kremlings.

I hope they're not retiring the DKC cast. They are iconic and it would genuinely really upset me if they were gone.

You could argue the Kremlings aren't as essential but I still miss them and think it's dumb that Nintendo refuses to use them at all

I would’ve loved if the Kremlings had went into hiding and set up a secret mining operation that DK stumbled into after all these years. Maybe they’ve been slowly building a way back to the surface to get revenge on the Kongs, I dunno.

With that said I actually do like the new evil Kong designs, they’re fun! And they remind me of the bad guys from Forgotten Land.

So I’m not op beat up over it.

All this proves is that internal nintendo teams don't know how to make the old design emote. Not that it can't emote.

And I still criticize the need to take him internally at all. Why not just get another non Japanese studio to work on a series where all of it's biggest successes have been developed by non Japanese teams. It seams to me like that should be a pretty good indicator that the series shouldn't be handled by a Japanese studio. This has just been wrong decision after wrong decision, but now that the monkey runs around open spaces and makes funny anime faces everyone is happy for some reason.

Why is it that the one time I'm actually critical of a redesign everyone loves it and isn't doing fan edits to "fix" it or campaigning to get it changed. Why is it that when it's something I care about people are all of a sudden all "go with the flow, any game is good game". Why am I the only one upset about this? If it was something else that I didn't care about, or worse, if I liked the redesign like in Crash Bandicoot 4, there would be pitchforks and torches! Why are people angry about minor differences in the shape and size of Shrek's nose and not about Donkey Kong looking like a completely different character!

There are so many just random characters here now that it just doesn’t feel right. It doesn’t feel curated. It just feels like a mess.

I mean, I kind of get it, but its also Mario Kart it's not a deep narrative game, nor a mechanically dense fighter. I think I'll only be disappointed in the lack of Diddy/Dixie. But even then, Hammer Bro is there, and he's cool.

Honestly, 450 for the console doesn't even phase me tbh.

Same. I feel like the Tariffs are at least partially to blame. I understand back in the day we shifted from 50 to 60. So going to 60 to 70, while still ****ty, I could get, especially with ballooning development costs. But going right into 80 when we've not had much time to even deal with 70 dollar games is ****.

This is why I usually wait on getting games and new consoles, cause ****** want to play games with me. I rarely get FOMO, so I'm about being a cheapskate when I can be.

While I would have been more of a shooter for DKC 6 off of first impressions. I think the DK game looks pretty cool, something about him getting more in your face combat wise than Mario fits DK, though some of that could also apply to Wario. The part of him breaking the boulder to surf on it, reminds me of how certain vehicles in Hulk Ultimate Destruction let you do the exact same. If DK's moveset is leaning towards that, I'll be happy.

Now they just need to bring this game to the NSO:

This game deserves more recognition and a sequel, dang it.

New Nintendo games cost 80 bucks, new Sony titles cost 70. Try to get a physical copy of Wario World, **** still costs AT LEAST 80.

I will say Greenhorn Forest is the first truly "Wario Core" song ever made.

Some of those Youtubers who have shelves of every game ever, need to give back to the people or something bro this **** is ROUGH.

Unless Miyamoto just really wanted to redesign DK and was gonna force it into whatever the next game was regardless because he's only now decided he actually cares about him.

If Miyamoto had ever actually cared about DK, the country series would not exist. He would have had it made in house from the beginning. He just wants it back now for some reason.

I'm also honestly of the ilk that DK's redesign just....isn't that good.

It worked for the different style in the Mario movie, but I'm not a fan of it becoming a mainstay in the games. Maybe it's because I'm so used to the old one but something about the new one's face just doesn't look as "cool" to me. Even for the funny kong man, his new facial structure almost looks too goofy.

It's still leagues better than King Dedede's redesign, though.

Well we could play the shoulda woulda coulda game forever. The reality is that Donkey Kong Bananza, likely being made by the Odyssey team, is coming out in July.

I signed up for the My Nintendo Store pre-order thing of the Mario Kart bundle. I feel like the price of the console wouldn't bother me as much if it didn't come out so close to my birthday, but I still kind of dread having to get new stuff like a case and maybe new Pro Controller.

We don't know too much about how games will be priced overall, but the increase we've already seen gives me more incentive to clear my Switch 1 backlog.

Can’t see the DK crew being retired, especially not Diddy and God Emperor Funky Kong. Mario Movie, the peak DKC animated series, and Smash Bros gonna keep those 2, Dixie, and Cranky living for a long time…and K Rool mostly cause of and thanks to Smash

The new DK game is peak actually because you can destroy the terrain with your bare fists just like in Minecraft.

I will be making DK dig to form creeper faces and mysterious crosses.

Also, even after Donkey Kong showed up in the trailer (I didn’t know it was a DK game until then), it felt like Rare and Banjo-Kazooie or something, though maybe it was just the magical 3D platformer environments and one of the new characters looking like an object with googly eyes since obviously Rare wouldn’t be involved lol.
