Idk maybe if Mario odyssey can have Mario 64 Mario as a costume this can have “Rare DK” as a costume too.

Other than thinking the tutorial game costing money is a dumb move (not even just because it’s greedy, but because it just seems dumb in general, to be honest. I can’t imagine it’ll sell well), and some games probably costing $80 being a downer, I’m excited for the system and games in general and I’ll definitely get the bundle with Mario Kart World later this year (won’t get it Day 1 incase the system has problems, plus I likely won’t have enough money saved by then anyway xD).

The Switch 2 Edition game upgrades costing money is also unfortunate imo, but at least they seem cheap so you can buy one or two and wait a while for others, and of course some like Pokémon S/V get free updates instead. I’m gonna upgrade Kirby and the Forgotten Land first.

I’m also excited for Kirby Air Riders, Donkey Kong Bananza, Pokémon Legends Z-A, and Deltarune. GameCube on Switch Online makes me want to try the expansion pack, too, but not at launch (gonna wait ‘til either Pokémon or Chibi-Robo is released on there, whichever comes first), and I may only pay for it once idk lol.

Yeah, it feels like they're letting anyone into Mario Kart now as long as they fit the Core Super Mario Brand. Not that I ever expected RPG characters, but no sign of Diddy and Funky is a little concerning.

I think the “Boshi” in Kart World is just a Blue Yoshi in a costume, since he seems to have a black jacket and his shoes are black without the toes poking through, but the shades and spiked, red collar (combined with the Yoshi color of choice) definitely seem inspired by Boshi at least.

I’d love it if some characters from RPGs and such were added. I also love all the different enemies and other minor characters and such being playable, too, though. Can’t wait to win a Grand Prix on Rainbow Road as Moo Moo Meadows cow! (Speaking of Rainbow Road, is it still in the game? Is there gonna be something on the map that launches you into space?)

I was thinking that too. Also, since we do not even have characters from the Paper Mario games in Mario Kart yet, I think it would be kind of odd that they would start adding Mario RPG characters now. If not, it would still be odd if they started with characters from an old Mario RPG game, despite it having a recent remake. I could be wrong, though.

If you look at all the choices made from today’s Direct and what’s put on the Nintendo website, you’ll see that Nintendo is highly encouraging digital purchases. Nintendo is quickly running to an all digital future as it’s the most profitable way.

Okay I can finally sit down and say my thoughts on the Donkey Kong stuff

I am weirdly neutral about it.

The new design is super expressive and is really endearing, but it reminds me too much of Seth Rogan when I see his face : (

I don't really feel offended at the lack of Kremlings, every new DK has had a new set of characters pretty much. and I imagine they are taking this opportunity to do a soft reboot on DKs cast anyway, and I assume they are redesigning Diddy, Funky, Cranky and Dixie to match Donkey as well.

I do find the timing of it weird, They made a whole ass theme park based on the Rare design, and have invested so much into that design. It almost makes me wonder if they will still use the Rare design in some capacity.

Either way, it's no skin off my nose.

I remember being so frustrated not being able to play as a Whomp or Kamek in this mini game or Mario Party 8 in general when I was a kid.

ok but like the old design could emote. They didn’t need to change it to do expressive animations. And hearing about how “the new design is so expressive” just feels like… idk what it feels like but it feels wrong. I’m sorry but I just don’t like it and I feel like way too many people have been won over by it based on a flimsy argument and little flourishes that you could have done with the old design anyway.

He didn’t need to put on weight. He didn’t need to get a bunch of really shaggy fur. He didn’t need an eyebrow that perfectly rounds around his eyes.

He didn’t need to look like a Mario character. His game didn’t need to play like a Mario game. The environments didn’t need to look like Mario environments. The villains didn’t need to look like Mario villains.

Donkey Kong doesn’t need to be Mario. Miyamoto just wanted him to because all of a sudden he cares about “his baby” that he initially abandoned on the stoop in England. It’s too late. He doesn’t get to try to raise his “son” now and he should stop before he makes things even worse.

No kickboxing did not help me get out my emotions.

Today should be a celebration but I'm feeling very depressed right now.

I had a really stressful moment at work today which got to me and seeing the Nintendo community very split on some details on Switch 2 are some of those factors.

Though why the Zelda games are not free upgrades is beyond me, they just improve performance and graphics.

Cool, but I still like it.

I think he’s really fun to watch now. Maybe they could’ve done the same with the old design, but they didn’t, they redesigned him. And now that I see what it was building up to, I like it.
