I'm sure it would do well because presumably it'd have some new content in it to sweeten the deal a little.Ultimate Deluxe would be simple to develop because, well, it's already made, but it's a gamble whether it'll do well or be a massive flop.
The Devil's Advocate in me is screaming that just because it never happened doesn't mean it never will.I'm sure it would do well because presumably it'd have some new content in it to sweeten the deal a little.
With that said, I'm gonna keep saying what I've been saying for ages: Smash has NEVER done ports in its entire history, even when Smash 4 could have easily been ported to the Switch instead of making a new game, just like Mario Kart did.
There's zero reason to believe an Ultimate port is more likely than the team just making a new game.
To be fair, my friend made a good point today, he feels like if we were to get a Ultimate Deluxe, he feels like we would still be getting fighters in vanilla Ultimate even if it's just 2 of them every year or so, kind of gives the impresion that they're done with Ultimate since they stoped the DLC money flowing for nearly 4 years. Most people who would want Ultimate already own it at this point. I'm shocked people still genuinely believe a port is in the cards.
Unpredictability isn't the only thing they're good at; learning from their mistakes is another skill of theirs and I doubt they ignored how badly Bowser's Inside Story's remake did, even with the expectation that it would not do well due to being a poorly-marketed 3DS game long after the Switch came out.But i'm still not completely ruling out a Ultimate Deluxe, yeah i might seem stubborn, but it's Nintendo, they're unpredictable at points.
I wouldn't actually expect a new Zelda tbh, unless it's a spinoff. So besides the usual things like a new 3D Mario, a new Legend of Zelda and a new Smash Bros, what are you looking forward to most for the Switch 2 Direct?
- New IP announcements?
- Possible revivals of old IPs?
- Third Party titles?
- Maybe even a 3rd Party title exclusive to the new system, whether it's a straight-forward exclusive, a Nintendo title developed by a 3rd Party like Bandai Namco(like Pokken or New Pokemon Snap) or Koei Tecmo(like Hyrule and Fire Emblem Warriors), or maybe even a title funded by Nintendo, similar to Bayonetta 2 & 3 or some of the timed Square-Enix titles like Octopath, Bravely Default or the Live a Live remake?
At this point I think I am most excited for the console UI and how the game cases lookSo besides the usual things like a new 3D Mario, a new Legend of Zelda and a new Smash Bros, what are you looking forward to most for the Switch 2 Direct?

Or the fabled Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD RE-Remasters.I wouldn't actually expect a new Zelda tbh, unless it's a spinoff.
LET'S ****ING GO! MORE TINGLE!Or the fabled Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD RE-Remasters.![]()
A new 3D Mario is my absolute most anticipated announcement for this direct. But aside from that I also really want to see something new for Donkey Kong. Though considering we just got Returns HD, it may be too soon.So besides the usual things like a new 3D Mario, a new Legend of Zelda and a new Smash Bros, what are you looking forward to most for the Switch 2 Direct?

Honestly, I'm fully expecting at least one IP revival. The Switch has been doing a lot of that and I could see that continuing going forwards thanks to its successes. So besides the usual things like a new 3D Mario, a new Legend of Zelda and a new Smash Bros, what are you looking forward to most for the Switch 2 Direct?

I think it's diferent this time around, the potential of 10 or more cuts might make Sakurai and Nintendo think twice, if t's worth it to make a new game and potentially upset people, realistically Smash 6 and Ultimate Deluxe would sell similary, so it's more if they choose to continue the series with Smash 6 or make Ultimate a live-service of sorts like League of Legends or Overwatch 2 with new characters coming periodically every year, in my opinion. But the truth is that Sakurai would rather slave his ass off making a new game than letting a port happen. It's literally how he made Brawl.
Smash 6 wouldn't have people going "but I already got Ultimate for my Switch, why should I need to rebuy it?"realistically Smash 6 and Ultimate Deluxe would sell similary
It would also be really redundant since the Switch 2 can run the game already.I'm sure it would do well because presumably it'd have some new content in it to sweeten the deal a little.

There's a big difference between "Ultimate Deluxe" and "make Ultimate a live-service game" and making Smash Bros a live service in the same vein as LoL or Overwatch 2, even just as a thought, fills me with vitriol and anger, especially just after Multiversus burned to the ground lmaoso it's more if they choose to continue the series with Smash 6 or make Ultimate a live-service of sorts like League of Legends or Overwatch 2 with new characters coming periodically every year, in my opinion.
I just wanted them all in the US. Albeit, I get why Rosee Rupeeland isn't worldwide... except only Europe is where it's an issue. It not coming to the US is silly b now. The other two don't have an excuse for not being a EU release, though. Like, I get it. Back then Tingle hit a pretty bad low for a while in the US specifically. Now? Things changed. So porting them over isn't an issue any longer. He was only pretty bad in Wind Waker at best. The other Zelda games toned back his abrasiveness and focused on him still being greedy, but overall a pleasant fellow and helpful sometimes too. He's great in Minish Cap, for instance.LET'S ****ING GO! MORE TINGLE!![]()
No, but you would have "Why would i buy this game if its inferior to Ultimate?" if there's cuts.Smash 6 wouldn't have people going "but I already got Ultimate for my Switch, why should I need to rebuy it?"
More info on the upcoming Mario Kart game, along with seeing the potential for mouse controls in general. There’s just so many ideas for such a control style. So besides the usual things like a new 3D Mario, a new Legend of Zelda and a new Smash Bros, what are you looking forward to most for the Switch 2 Direct?
It may not necessarily be hated, but people will dislike the idea of paying $60 for barely any more content. There's a reason why traditional fighters stopped doing Champion/Turbo/etc. versions.but i personally think Ultimate Deluxe will get less hate, though.
Someone said it a while ago ITT, but I think they're just going to tease a new game and start the entire hype cycle without explicitly saying there's cuts. It'll be closer to pre-Ultimate rollouts for the games where they'll just keep us in the dark about veterans and stuff, and by the time we know the final roster everyone will be bamboozled and mesmerized by newcomers and ready to buy the game regardless. Will probably still get backlash but will smooth it out via a dripfeed of disappointment rather than a big impact. No, but you would have "Why would i buy this game if its inferior to Ultimate?" if there's cuts.
People are going to complain regardless is if Ultimate Deluxe or Smash 6, but i personally think Ultimate Deluxe will get less hate, though.
Sakurai is the wild card as Smash Bros is his life's work. Though, those characters are possible since the heavy hitters are already used during Ultimate's cycle.I think the general audiencie had a problem envisioning Smash after Ultimate as well, peraphs if they reveal Smash 6 with brand new engine, a new battlefield, a new Mario model or something, people will get more comfortable with it, but i don't know.
Honestly, maybe they should relly on having Isaac, Waluigi, Bandana Dee and some highly requested 3rdparty newcomer in the base game like Dante or Sans to draw people in as well.
Not to mention veteran DLC to smooth it out further, most likely, since Smash is no stranger to veteran DLC.Someone said it a while ago ITT, but I think they're just going to tease a new game and start the entire hype cycle without explicitly saying there's cuts. I just hope they pick the "right" DLC veterans, at least, priorizing the popular ones that got cut.Not to mention veteran DLC to smooth it out further, most likely, since Smash is no stranger to veteran DLC.
Im now picturing them bringing back Pichu as DLC just because Sakurai would think it's funnyI just hope they pick the "right" DLC veterans, at least, priorizing the popular ones that got cut.
Like if they bring back Pichu as DLC if Lucas or Wolf are missing it might not go very well with the general fanbase.
Same if they bring back Piranha Plant as DLC if Palutena or R.O.B. are missing would also not go very well with the general fanbase either.
Not saying any of those will get cut, just hypoteticals.
And he would be right. It would be funnyIm now picturing them bringing back Pichu as DLC just because Sakurai would think it's funny
I mean I would assume, depending on how deep the cuts are, that unique movesets would be prioritized for the sake of making it more worthwhile, sort of like how Mewtwo was the first Smash 4 DLC character.I just hope they pick the "right" DLC veterans, at least, priorizing the popular ones that got cut.

In fact, I know you said "besides the usual things like a 3D Mario," but I figured now was a good time to share my idea for a 3D Mario built around mouse controls:More info on the upcoming Mario Kart game, along with seeing the potential for mouse controls in general. The dual screen would be tricky so I don't think the ports would be 1:1Speaking of mouse controls, do you all think they could work like the stylus of the Nintendo DS and 3DS? Maybe we can get some games from both of the two old systems in the Switch 2's NSO?
probably it could work like a computer on some games that can have this techniqueSpeaking of mouse controls, do you all think they could work like the stylus of the Nintendo DS and 3DS? Maybe we can get some games from both of the two old systems in the Switch 2's NSO?
Like ports of the Professor Layton games.More info on the upcoming Mario Kart game, along with seeing the potential for mouse controls in general. There’s just so many ideas for such a control style.
I thought so. Somehow, though, I had to post what I said about the DS and 3DS just because of the mouse controls. The dual screen would be tricky so I don't think the ports would be 1:1
With that said, Phantom Hourglass remake that makes the Ocean King Temple less annoying would go so hard.
I said it a bit back, but since I got Rhythm Heaven coming already, I'm hoping now for a Fossil Fighters sequel using the mouse controls for fossil excavation lolSpeaking of mouse controls, do you all think they could work like the stylus of the Nintendo DS and 3DS? It could also allow people to use the Switch 2 like a PC computer game. FPS games does benefit since it allows more accurate aim.probably it could work like a computer on some games that can have this technique
Looks like Valve and their Steam PC thing might have some competition! It could also allow people to use the Switch 2 like a PC computer game. FPS games does benefit since it allows more accurate aim.
And it could also be used for light gun games like House of the Dead, and you could probably use both Joy-Cons to do 2-player co-op by yourself! It could also allow people to use the Switch 2 like a PC computer game. FPS games does benefit since it allows more accurate aim.
And why Pokémon abandoned third versions entirely in favor of DLC expansions. It may not necessarily be hated, but people will dislike the idea of paying $60 for barely any more content. There's a reason why traditional fighters stopped doing Champion/Turbo/etc. versions.
